Teen Now Charged With Murder in Fatal Shooting of 16 Year Old

CONROE —. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has upgraded charges against a 17‑year‑old suspect following the fatal shooting of a juvenile in neighborhood near Conroe last week.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 5:13 AM on July 9, 2026, after two 911 callers reported finding a 16‑year‑old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the 16800 block of Northern Flicker Trail. Medics with the Montgomery County Hospital District attempted life‑saving measures, but the teen, now identified as Alexander Guevara, was pronounced deceased at about 6:00 AM.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, where all involved parties remained and were interviewed. During the initial phase of the investigation, detectives identified Messiah Archuleta, 17, as one of the individuals present. Archuleta was first charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of a Controlled Substance as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Following two days of additional investigative work and consultation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, authorities announced that Archuleta has now been charged with Murder in connection with Guevara’s death.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives have confirmed that there is no current threat to the public, and no further details have been released. All suspects are innocent until proven guilt in a court of law.
