HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS — The Texas Department of Public Safety is warning drivers across Walker, San Jacinto, and Polk counties about a suspected police impersonator conducting illegal traffic stops.

DPS investigators say the individual has allegedly been pulling over motorists while driving an unmarked black 2022 Jeep Gladiator on US 1 90. According to the agency, the suspect is not a law‑enforcement officer and has reportedly approached drivers while wearing civilian clothing, not a uniform.

Authorities are now working to identify anyone who may have been stopped by this individual. DPS is urging drivers to come forward if they encountered a traffic stop involving a black 2022 Jeep Gladiator and a person not wearing official police attire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Conroe DPS Criminal Investigations Division at 346‑260‑9824 or email Luke.Williams@dps.texas.gov

The investigation is ongoing within the DPS Southeast Texas Region. All suspects are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
