Upcoming Texas Boxer Killed In Raging Incident

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — A 26‑year‑old Texas A&M University employee and rising boxer was killed Saturday morning after investigators say a driver allegedly intentionally reversed his vehicle into a group of bicyclists along FM 159.

Deputies with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched just before 10 a.m. to the 23000 block of FM 159 for reports of a major crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. When first responders arrived, they found Hannah Rapp lying in the roadway. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she later died despite emergency efforts.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators learned that the driver, identified as 31 year old Charles Medina, had passed two bicyclists traveling along the roadway. After passing them, officials say Medina stopped his vehicle, reversed, and struck Rapp.

Medina was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He was booked into the Brazos County Detention Center. Detectives say the case remains active as they continue gathering evidence, but they currently believe the incident was isolated. Charges may be upgraded.

Rapp’s father, James Rapp, said the family is still reeling from the shock of losing their daughter, describing her as someone who “grabbed a hold of life by the tail” from the time she was a little girl.

In a statement, he thanked the community for the outpouring of support:

“Still in a shock and with our hearts still so heavy over the loss of our sweet beautiful girl, I want to thank each and everyone who has shared a little story or tidbit or thought for healing peace. You are all so wonderful, you help us carry this terrible burden.”

He said Hannah lived with a spirit of adventure and surrounded herself with people who shared that same energy.

“Hannah LIVED life… She lived to share her spirit of life and exploration and adventure with anyone who was willing to ride along.”

Rapp also spoke about Hannah’s boyfriend, Will Pollalis, saying the two were “perfectly matched” and deeply happy together. Pollalis witnessed the crash, something her father called “a tragic thing for Will to have to see.”

He described the driver’s actions as a “coward’s act of road rage,” saying the bicyclists were simply riding along a country road when Medina allegedly reversed into them.

“Hannah was struck and killed by the coward’s actions,” he said. “Again, thank you one and all. It is very difficult to bear, and I thank you for your continued support and positive thoughts, energy, and stories about Hannah.”
