Toyota Moving $3.6 Billion In Production From Mexico to Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Toyota Motor North America will invest $3.6 billion to significantly expand its San Antonio manufacturing campus, adding a second vehicle assembly line dedicated to the Tacoma and creating 2,000 new jobs as part of a long‑term growth strategy for its U.S. operations. The announcement, made July 6, marks one of the largest single manufacturing investments in Texas in recent years.

The project will add 2.5 million square feet to Toyota Texas—effectively doubling the plant’s size by 2030. Tacoma production will shift from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Baja California to San Antonio over an estimated four‑year transition period.

The San Antonio campus already builds the Tundra and Sequoia on a shared line and is preparing to launch production at its new rear axle facility this fall.

TMNA President and CEO Ted Ogawa said the investment reflects Toyota’s confidence in North America’s workforce and long‑term market strength.

With the expansion, Toyota’s total investment in San Antonio will reach $8.3 billion since 2003. The company also reiterated its support for a quick resolution to USMCA issues to maintain North American competitiveness.
