ONEOK Issues Updates on San Jacinto Pipeline Leak
By Staff Writer
SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TEXAS — Updated information from ONEOK and county officials confirms that FM 1127 will remain closed through the weekend as crews continue responding to a significant pipeline release outside Shepherd.
According to a ONEOK spokesperson, the June 12 incident involved “a release on our pipeline outside of Shepherd, Texas, believed to be related to third‑party excavation activity.” Company personnel quickly isolated the affected segment and are working to safely remove product from the line. Controlled flares remain active near Wright Boulevard as part of the standard mitigation process.
FM 1127 is fully closed and is expected to remain shut down through the weekend. ONEOK and local officials have established an alternate access route that will remain open 24 hours a day with lighting and security personnel. The route crosses private property and includes a bridge that cannot support large vehicles, limiting access to smaller passenger traffic only.
Residents who need help navigating the area may request route assistance by contacting the San Jacinto County Office of Emergency Management (SJCOEM) directly on Facebook. Because the detour is on private land, officials will not release the route publicly.
A temporary shelter was opened Friday evening by SJCOEM and the American Red Cross at:
Shepherd Community Center
10251 TX‑150, Shepherd, TX 77371
The shelter will remain available until all displaced residents have been relocated. Officials say arrangements are in place to ensure everyone affected has a safe place to stay during the ongoing response.
- Residents displaced overnight should save reimbursement receipts

Fire and EMS units remain stationed on both sides of the incident to maintain rapid response capability. Air quality monitoring continues, and officials emphasize that no evacuation orders have been issued.
ONEOK expressed appreciation for the cooperation of local responders and the community, stating:
“We appreciate the quick response of emergency personnel and the patience of the community as we work to restore access. Safety is our top priority, and we are committed to protecting our employees, our communities, our assets and the environment.”
SJCOEM will continue releasing verified updates as new information becomes available. Residents are encouraged to monitor official channels for accurate guidance.
