Serial Shooter Targets Victims Across Three Cities
NEW CANEY, TEXAS — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says a shooting in New Caney on Friday morning was the first in a string of violent incidents carried out by the same suspect across multiple jurisdictions, ending hours later with the suspect’s death in Houston.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 9:19 AM to the 2300 block of Thelma Lane in New Caney after a 911 caller reported that a woman had been shot. Responding units located a 52 yearold female victim, who was transported to a local hospital. She is listed in stable condition.
Investigators identified the suspect as 50 year old Pedro Gonzales, who fled the New Caney scene in a grey heavy‑m duty truck. As deputies searched for him, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that Gonzales had surfaced in Houston, where he shot a male victim near Kress Road at a Burger King. The Houston Police Department is handling that portion of the investigation.
Further information revealed that earlier in the day, before the New Caney shooting, Gonzales had also shot his ex‑wife at a residence in Pasadena. All three victims are known acquaintances of Gonzales, and authorities believe the incidents stem from an ongoing dispute involving him. All victims are expected to survive.
The multi agency search concluded when Gonzales was located near Gaines Street in Houston, where he was found deceased from an apparent self‑inflicted gunshot wound.
Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the Houston Police Department, Pasadena Police Department, and additional partner agencies as the investigation unfolded across the three cities.
