Half a Million Illegal Pills Seized
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS — A months long narcotics investigation led to one of the largest illegal pill seizures in recent county history on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when multiple local, state, and federal agencies arrested 54‑year‑old Charles Hayes of Spring and recovered more than 538,000 illicit pharmaceutical pills.
The Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team, joined by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Calmar Dr. as part of an extensive investigation into the illegal importation of prescription narcotics by transnational criminal organizations.
Inside the residence, investigators seized:
- 538,610 illegal pharmaceutical pills estimated street value $3.2 million
- 3 firearms
- Evidence tied to large scale narcotics trafficking operations
Task Force officials said intercepting such a large quantity of pills represents a significant disruption to criminal networks attempting to move prescription narcotics into Texas communities.
Hayes was arrested at the scene and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail for booking.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle commended the coordinated operation, saying the results reflect the strength of regional and federal partnerships.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team operates as part of a High‑Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, combining resources from multiple jurisdictions to target high level narcotics trafficking organizations.
