Colorado Man On The Run Arrested For Allegedly Victimizing Area Child

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — A Colorado man accused of victimizing a child, in a rural area of San Jacinto outside of New Waverly, has been captured after evading law enforcement for several months, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department.

San Jacinto Sheriff’s Criminal Investigators Division detectives opened the case in September 2024 after receiving a report of a felony victimization to a child. The Sheriff’s Department stated Investigators conducted a detailed investigation, including forensic interviews and evidence analysis. Their findings led to a warrant being issued for the suspect.

Detectives identified the suspect as Bruce Mize, 46, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Mize eluded custody for several months after the warrant was issued.

Officials say Mize was taken into custody a few days ago after being pulled over by the Texas Department of Public Safety in the Dalhart area while traveling toward the state line. He was arrested without incident.

Following his arrest, Mize was transported back to San Jacinto County, where he will stand trial for the alleged offense. The suspect was charged with Sexual Assault to a Child.

All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
