By Staff Writer
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees has named Travis Fanning as the district’s Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools, beginning the 21‑day waiting period required under Texas law before a final vote can be taken.
Fanning currently serves as Superintendent of Beeville ISD, a role he has held since 2020. He brings 25 years of experience in public education, including more than 21 years in administrative leadership and over five years as a superintendent.
Board President Ken Holland said Fanning’s record of student‑centered leadership, academic improvement, and community engagement made him the clear choice to lead Huntsville ISD.
During his tenure in Beeville, the district improved student performance, raised its state accountability rating, and passed a $62 million bond in 2024 to support major facility upgrades, including a new elementary school. Fanning has also been recognized as Cypress‑Fairbanks ISD Secondary Principal of the Year and has been nominated three times for Region 2 Superintendent of the Year.
A first‑generation college graduate, Fanning holds degrees from Alabama A&M University and the University of Houston–Clear Lake and is currently pursuing a doctorate at Baylor University.
Huntsville ISD leaders say they look forward to welcoming Fanning and his family as the district prepares for its next chapter.
