Wilmington, MA – Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd, announced that its HEXWAVE system was selected by Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to screen staff and visitors who enter correctional facilities. The contract is for twenty HEXWAVE units that will be used at facilities throughout the state.
Liberty Defense in a press release stated the “order was received with our distribution partner Viken Detection after LINEV Systems U.S. won the contract in a competitive public tender in the State of Texas.” LINEV Systems is a company based out of Conroe, Texas.
Unlike traditional metal detectors that are unable to pickup non metallic objects such as drugs and plastic 3D printed guns, HEXWAVE uses millimeter wave, 3D imaging and AI to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threatening items.
The system’s AI software generates an avatar image of where potential threats may exist, unlike earlier 3D imaging machines that showed a person’s full outer anatomy.

The company states the system allows for rapid, automated screening using a high-throughput, contactless, walkthrough portal to detect liquid, powder and plastic explosives, 3D printed ghost guns and other contraband that enhanced metal detectors on the market do not detect.

“This is clearly a breakthrough win for Liberty and our HEXWAVE walk through screening technology over other systems currently deployed in the corrections market,” said Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense.
