POLK COUNTY — Polk County deputies arrested fugitive sex offender Doyle Cheek on August 14, 2026, ending an eight‑year search that began when he absconded from supervision in 2018. Deputies responded to the Quailcrest area after the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office provided new information about Cheek’s possible location.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they spoke with a man who identified himself as Jason Cheek. He claimed to be a relative of Doyle and said the fugitive was not at the home. Deputies also made contact with Doyle’s wife, April Cheek, who was present at the residence.

As deputies continued speaking with April, the man claiming to be Jason suddenly jumped from a rear window and fled on foot. Deputies pursued and apprehended him. Once in custody, he was positively identified as Doyle Cheek, confirming he had attempted to deceive deputies by providing false information.

Cheek was taken into custody on his outstanding felony warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Deputies also charged him with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and Evading Arrest. April Cheek was arrested as well and charged with Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution of a Known Felon/Sex Offender.
