Search Warrant in Point Blank Leads to Three Arrests, Child Victimization Images Allegedly Found

POINT BLANK, TEXAS Three people were taken into custody after the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (DPS CID) executed a search warrant at a residence in the Point Blank area on June 9, 2026.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began when DPS CID received information alleging that Gregory Powell was viewing and distributing disturbing child victimization images. After conducting surveillance, gathering evidence, and establishing probable cause, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the early morning operation, members of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Operation Lone Star Task Force, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and DPS CID entered the home and encountered three individuals. Gregory Powell, Brian Powell, and Kim Bird were all taken into custody.

Investigators allege locating suspected methamphetamine in the possession of Brian Powell and Kim Bird. Multiple electronic devices and viewing platforms allegedly containing child victimization images were also seized. According to the release, evidence indicated that both Gregory Powell and Brian Powell were in possession of child victimization images depicting victims ranging from toddlers to children of undetermined ages.

Authorities also recovered female child undergarments in the possession of Gregory Powell. The items were seized as evidence and will undergo further forensic examination.

All three individuals were arrested and charged based on the evidence recovered at the scene. Officials noted that additional charges may follow as forensic analysis of the electronic devices continues.

Sheriff Sam Houston praised the coordinated efforts of DPS CID and multiple divisions within the Sheriff’s Office, stating that their work “protects children and removes dangerous offenders from the community.”

Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All arrest are based on allegations.
