Area Ministry Partner Arrested On Abuse Allegations
CONROE, TEXAS. — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations of sexual abuse after three women came forward earlier this year with claims spanning multiple decades.
On May 8, 2026, deputies responded to the 18000 block of Cooper Road in Conroe for a report of alleged Indecency with a Child. When they arrived, three adult females disclosed that they had been allegedly sexually abused over a period of several years, with incidents dating back to the 1990s. The suspect was identified as 65‑year‑old Leland Fleming.
Detectives with the Special Victims Unit launched an extensive investigation and determined that Fleming had been involved in multiple religious ministries throughout Montgomery County.
According to investigators, he also worked with children’s choirs and homeschool groups, placing him in contact with youth across various organizations over the years.
On May 28, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Indecency with a Child. Investigators later located Fleming in Madison County, Arkansas, where he was taken into custody with assistance from local authorities. He was extradited back to Montgomery County on June 25, 2026.
Fleming is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond and faces two counts of Indecency with a Child.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active. Because of Fleming’s long‑term involvement with youth‑focused religious and educational groups, detectives believe additional victims or witnesses may exist.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936‑538‑5900 and reference case number 26A156874.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
