NEW CANEY, Texas — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has released new details as detectives continue investigating the homicide of a 15‑year‑old found shot outside a New Caney home late Saturday night.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 30, 2026, after a homeowner in the 20700 block of Stevens Road returned home and discovered an unresponsive individual lying in front of the residence. Responding patrol deputies located the victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, the teen was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has now been identified as 15‑year‑old Khi Broussard. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Broussard previously attended Aldine Middle School and Keefer Crossing Middle School and was known to frequent the Greenspoint area.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit say early findings indicate Broussard and the suspect may have had prior contact through social media and arranged to meet on the night he was killed.

Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators spent the weekend canvassing the neighborhood and are now asking residents near Stevens Road to review any home surveillance systems for potential evidence.

Investigators are specifically seeking video between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, May 30, 2026, that may show a possible suspect or suspect vehicle.
