North Zulch, Texas – A serious two‑vehicle collision on State Highway 21 West near Strawther Road resulted in one fatality and another person transported to the hospital late Tuesday afternoon.

According to emergency officials, North Zulch and Madisonville fire departments were dispatched around 4:40 PM to the 6700 block of SH 21 West for a motor‑vehicle accident involving major injuries and reported entrapment.

When crews arrived, they found two heavily damaged vehicles and one driver who had already succumbed to their injuries. That individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The second driver, identified as the other vehicle’s sole occupant, suffered suspected fractures and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. First responders noted that this driver avoided life‑threatening injuries largely because they were properly wearing a seatbelt and their airbags deployed during the crash.

Fire crews, law enforcement, and medical personnel remained on scene for nearly two hours conducting investigation and roadway cleanup. The crash site was fully cleared at approximately 6:20 PM.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver. The crash remains under investigation.

A Madisonville Police Officer who was traveling to the scene was involved in a single vehicle accident, after their patrol cruiser hydroplaned off Highway 21 West. The officer was transported to a local hospital.

The fatality accident remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
