Jury Trial Set for Man Accused of Murdering a Huntsville 16 Year Old

Huntsville, Texas – A jury trial is set for a man accused of murdering a Huntsville 16 year old. Tezevion Lazaro Matthews is accused of firing numerous rounds into a vehicle that was traveling in the area of MLK Blvd and Thomason St on August 24, 2021.
According to a Huntsville Police press release, the driver of the victim’s vehicle drove to the area of Eastham Thomason Park and called the police. Huntsville Police arrived and upon locating the 16 year old victim immediately began administering first aid. The 16 year old victim was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
On August 26, at approximately 12:37 AM Detectives with the Huntsville Police Department and the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force located Tiezevion Lazaro Matthews in an apartment in Huntsville.
According to Walker County District Clerk records on November 22, 2021, Matthews was Indicted by a Walker County Grand Jury for the murder. Matthews was released on a $350,000 bond February 15, 2022 pending trial.
A jury trial is now set to start January 7, 2025 at 8:30 AM in the state’s 12th District Court before the Honorable Judge Mary Ann Turner. Matthews is represented by local Huntsville attorney J Paxton Adams, Conroe area attorney Brian C. Burns, and Bryan area attorney William Carter.
