Times Are Tough: One Arrested in Dollar General Burglaries In New Waverly & Cold Spring
SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TEXAS— A months‑long joint investigation by the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and the Texas Rangers has led to the arrest of a Houston man accused of participating in a pair of Dollar General burglaries earlier this summer. Two additional suspects remain at large.
According to investigators, three individuals allegedly burglarized Dollar General stores in Coldspring and New Waverly on June 27, 2026. Patrol deputies responded to both scenes and documented the incidents before CID detectives took over the case.
Detectives later developed information indicating the suspects were operating out of the Houston area. Because the investigation extended beyond San Jacinto County, Texas Rangers assigned to the region joined CID in coordinating follow‑up efforts.
After months of investigative work, authorities identified Trevon Jones, 33, of Houston, as one of the suspects believed to be involved. On October 23, 2026, CID detectives, assisted by the Texas Rangers, located and arrested Jones.
Jones faces the following charges:
- Burglary of a Building — Two counts
- Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
Sheriff Sam Houston praised the coordinated efforts between CID and the Texas Rangers, noting the importance of interagency cooperation in cases involving suspects with ties outside the county.@
Investigators say two additional suspects connected to the June burglaries remain unidentified or unlocated. The case remains active, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
