Wanted Felon Allegedly Committing More Felonies

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 24 year old man with an outstanding felony warrant was arrested Tuesday after deputies recovered two allegedly stolen skid steers taken overnight from a job site along FM 2090, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched after the equipment owner received motion alerts on his phone and began tracking one of the machines through GPS. The skid steer, left at the location while crews performed work for the Texas Department of Transportation, was shown traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 59.

Woodbranch Police officers located the transport vehicle and initiated a stop. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived shortly afterward and confirmed the skid steer had been allegedly taken without consent. The driver was identified as Caleb Dardar, who was detained without incident.

Dardar was charged with Felony Theft and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. Authorities later learned he had an active felony warrant out of Harris County for Aggravated Robbery.

Investigators seized the truck and trailer used to haul the alleged stolen machinery and transported both to the Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force to determine whether those vehicles were stolen as well.

During the investigation, deputies discovered a second skid steer had been stolen from the same FM 2090 job site at the same time. That machine was tracked into Harris County and recovered by the Houston Police Department.

The sheriff’s office says the case remains active and ongoing as investigators review evidence connected to both thefts and Dardar’s outstanding warrant.

All suspects are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
