Huntsville, Texas — A new senior‑housing development is now officially in the pipeline for Huntsville, adding another affordable option for residents aged 55 and older. The project, registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation under the name Fishpond at Walker, will be built near the corner of State Highway 19 and U.S. 190 on the city’s east side.

According to state filings, construction is scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025, with completion expected by December 31, 2027. The development is listed as new construction with an estimated cost of $350,000 and involves public funds, public land, or federal roadway‑related funding. The review scope covers the lease office and public areas, totaling 1,900 square feet.

The developer behind the project already operates a senior‑housing property at 176 FM 247 in Huntsville, expanding its presence in Walker County with this new multifamily, one‑level complex. The goal is to provide additional low‑cost, accessible housing for older adults in a region experiencing steady growth and increasing demand for senior living options.

Fishpond at Walker will be located at Highway 190 East near the corner of Highway 19, placing it along a major corridor that connects Huntsville to surrounding communities. The owner listed in state records is Fishpond at Walker LP, based at 500 N Capital of Texas Highway in Austin.

The development is currently marked as Project Registered, indicating that regulatory filings are complete and the project is cleared to move forward. As Huntsville continues to expand, the addition of new senior housing reflects a broader effort to meet the needs of aging residents and ensure affordable options remain available.
