Crockett Area Man Arrested For An Allegedly Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child
CROCKETT, TEXAS — The Houston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 37‑year‑old parolee Ellis Johnta Izquierdo after a nine‑year‑old child made an outcry alleging inappropriate touching, according to Sheriff Zak Benge.
The report was first made on Monday, June 29, when deputies received a call stating that the child had disclosed the abuse earlier that morning. The case was immediately referred to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division for follow up.
Later that same afternoon, investigators arranged a forensic interview at Kalin’s Center, the county’s Child Advocacy Center. During the interview, the child confirmed the details of the alleged outcry.
Following the interview and subsequent investigation, deputies determined there was sufficient probable cause to present a Complaint and Probable Cause Affidavit to a Houston County judge. An arrest warrant was issued for Izquierdo for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, a first‑degree felony.
On Friday, deputies assisted by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Game Wardens, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers executed the warrant at Izquierdo’s residence on FM 2663 east of Latexo. Izquierdo was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Houston County Jail in Crockett. A local magistrate set bail at $300,000.
Upon his arrest, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles filed a Motion to Revoke Parole, resulting in a no‑bond detainer being placed on Izquierdo. He remains jailed with no bond.
Sheriff Benge emphasized that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and that arrests, charges, and indictments are public records that do not constitute evidence of guilt.
