Suspect In Custody for Possible Machete Attack

Shiro, Texas – At around 6:30 PM on Sunday November 17, 2024 the Grimes County Sheriff’s Department responded to a stabbing at the Shiro Grocery Store, approximately 20 miles West of Huntsville.

According to the Sheriff Don Sowell, an adult male and female were airlifted to a Houston hospital for serious injuries from a possible machete attack that occurred around the area of the Shiro Grocery Store.

At 11:03pm the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office received confirmation that the alleged suspect fled the scene in a white 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage with all black wheels.  The vehicle is believed to be displaying a temporary tag of 93C732A.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office was requesting assistance in locating the alleged suspect Elpidio DeLeon Gonzalez aka “Leo”. He was last wearing all black clothing. 

Update: With the assistance of The Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, Refugio County Sheriff’s Office, and Refugio Police Department, Gonzalez was arrested at approximately 1:08am in Corpus Christi, Texas.
