HOUSTON – A former federal agent assigned to the Houston Area Field Office admitted to theft of personal property and providing false statements, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.

From March 2022 to July 2023, Nicholas Anthony Williams, 37, Houston, stole money and property from multiple residences while working as an FBI special agent executing search warrants.

Williams was assigned as an FBI special agent in the Houston area field office.  He served on both the criminal violent gang and counterterrorism squads since 2019.

The Department of Justice – Office of Inspector General conducted an investigation on Williams after being alerted about suspicious activity.

In the plea agreement Williams admitted to stealing cash totaling nearly $10,000 as well as several silver bars which he had attempted to sell. Williams used some of the money to purchase guns and related items.

Williams admitted to making false statements regarding fraudulent charges on his government issued credit card, attempting to make the charges appear to be case-related expenses, when they were not.  He also pawned FBI purchased property for cash.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alamdar Hamdani stated, “Nicholas Williams betrayed that legacy and the community’s trust when he decided to pad his own pockets at the expense of a citizen’s rights. Because no one is above the law, the system of justice that he once swore to protect will now seek to hold him to account for breaking that oath.”

Williams is scheduled to be sentenced before U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen on January 13, 2025.  Williams faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.  Williams remains out on bond pending sentencing.
