Huntsville Area Fire Crews Are Responding to California Wildfires
New Waverly, Texas – Local fire crews are responding to the California wildfires. A crew from New Waverly and the Montgomery County Emergency Services District 2 are on their way to the Sacramento area.
Approximately 100 specially trained Wildland Firefighters and their equipment have been called up by Governor Abbott in response to a request from the State of California.
Over 100 wildfires are burning across California and the Pacific Northwest, including the 375,000 acre Park Fire, near Chico.
Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management and Texas A&M Forest Service to deploy firefighters to assist with wildfire response efforts in California following a request from CAL Fire through the California Office of Emergency Services.
Officials said the Park Fire had grown to more than 383,000 acres as of this morning, an area nearly half the size of Rhode Island.
