Willis, Texas – The Montgomery County Precinct 1 office in a press release stated their deputies and Precinct 2 Constable’s Office deputies responded to a welfare concern in the 12300 block of West FM 1097 in Willis, Texas.

The call reported a man allegedly behaving erratically in traffic, attempting to open car doors as vehicles passed.  This alleged incident occurred Wednesday September 11, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM.

When deputies approached the man, he allegedly attempted to walk away from deputies and was non-compliant.

The man was identified as Stephen Guerrero of Willis, Texas.  The deputies claim a struggle ensued with Guerrero when a Precinct 2 Deputy deployed his taser in an attempt to gain control of Mr. Guerrero, but Mr. Guerrero struck him in the face.

The deputy lost control of the taser, and it fell to the ground but was quickly recovered by another deputy. Despite being stunned, Guerrero continued to resist, kicking another deputy in the chest while still attempting to gain control of the taser.

Additional units responded, and deputies were able to restrain Guerrero, who was placed into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without further incident.

Stephen Anthony Guerrero, a twenty-five-year-old male, was arrested for two counts of Assault on a Public Servant and attempting to Take a Weapon from a Law Enforcement officer.

All three charges are third degree felonies that carry sentences ranging from 2 to 10 years in prison for each charge and a $10,000 fine.  No bond has been set on Guerrero.
