CONROE \u2014 The Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office says a man accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a child and fleeing law enforcement twice has been taken into custody after a years\u2011long investigation spanning Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives first began investigating James Michael Nona on July 18, 2023, after receiving a report alleging that a child under 14 had been sexually abused over several years. According to investigators, the victim identified Nona as the alleged abuser, prompting the Sheriff\u2019s Office Special Victims Unit to open a criminal case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the early stages of the investigation, Nona allegedly learned he was under scrutiny and fled Texas. Authorities later found him in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, where he was reportedly living under the alias \u201cJordan Hill.\u201d He was arrested and extradited to Montgomery County on a warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child or Disabled Individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives say they also uncovered information suggesting Nona may have had additional victims in Oklahoma. Those allegations remain under investigation by the appropriate agencies. Nona was released on bond on October 23, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On November 25, 2025, investigators say Nona removed his court\u2011ordered GPS monitor and fled again while his Texas charges were still pending. Detectives later determined he had traveled to Louisiana and was using multiple aliases, including \u201cTrevor Craw\u201d and \u201cDusty Crawford.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After months of searching, authorities located Nona on July 27, 2026. He was arrested with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office SWAT Team, the United States Marshals Service, and the Galveston Police Department. He has since been transported to the Montgomery County Jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sheriff\u2019s Office says the Special Victims Unit is continuing to investigate information related to the case. Anyone who believes they or someone they know may have been a victim of Nona, or who has information relevant to the investigation, is urged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office and reference case number 23A209127.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
