{"id":185,"date":"2024-07-03T04:36:03","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T04:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hvhappens.com\/?p=185"},"modified":"2024-07-03T04:46:27","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T04:46:27","slug":"crews-are-working-around-the-clock-to-address-structural-issue-with-lake-livingston-dam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hvhappens.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/03\/crews-are-working-around-the-clock-to-address-structural-issue-with-lake-livingston-dam\/","title":{"rendered":"Crews Are Working Around the Clock to Address Structural Issue With Lake Livingston Dam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today the Trinity River Authority (TRA) announced crews and material suppliers are working around the clock to make emergency repairs to the Lake Livingston Dam after recent high impact floods eroded areas of the dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TRA stated they are working nonstop to ensure the dam can handle potential storm flow releases. TRA wanted to remind people the area around the dam is a construction zone and only authorized personnel would be allowed onsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TRA states it was too early to determine when the current repairs will be complete, but damage was more visible after the rains receded, and the level of the lake will be lowered to assist in the repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lake Livingston dam was completed in 1969 and filled in 1971. The day-to-day operations of the dam will continue as necessary, and gate operations may vary as conditions and construction activities allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Trinity River Authority has worked closely with local emergency management to provide them with information to make decisions related to the communities that they serve. Since the issues appeared the River Authority has been transparent with the public regarding problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TRA stated at this time the dam is in no immediate threat of failure or breach.
