The announcement, made July 6, marks one of the largest single manufacturing investments in Texas in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will add 2.5 million square feet to Toyota Texas\u2014effectively doubling the plant\u2019s size by 2030. Tacoma production will shift from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Baja California to San Antonio over an estimated four\u2011year transition period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The San Antonio campus already builds the Tundra and Sequoia on a shared line and is preparing to launch production at its new rear axle facility this fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TMNA President and CEO Ted Ogawa said the investment reflects Toyota\u2019s confidence in North America\u2019s workforce and long\u2011term market strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy expanding our San Antonio plant, we are deepening our commitment to American manufacturing\u2026 while advancing our mission to deliver high\u2011quality vehicles that meet the changing needs of customers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Truck manufacturing chief Frank Voss emphasized that the plant\u2019s 2,000\u2011acre site was chosen specifically for scalable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday marks the first step toward realizing that potential. We\u2019re excited to add the beloved Tacoma to our existing award\u2011winning lineup.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the expansion, Toyota\u2019s total investment in San Antonio will reach $8.3 billion since 2003. The company also reiterated its support for a quick resolution to USMCA issues to maintain North American competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas officials across state and federal levels framed the expansion as a major economic win for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gov. Greg Abbott called it a \u201cTexas\u2011sized investment\u201d that reinforces the state\u2019s business climate and workforce strength.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Ted Cruz highlighted the creation of thousands of high\u2011paying jobs and the strengthening of American manufacturing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick described the project as \u201ctransformational,\u201d predicting billions in economic activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows said the investment reflects Toyota\u2019s confidence in Texas\u2019 pro\u2011business environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rep.
