She was diagnosed with West Nile neuroinvasive disease, a severe form of the virus that can affect the brain and nervous system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mosquito season in Texas began in May and typically continues through the end of October, a period when the risk of mosquito\u2011borne illness is highest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the CDC, the most effective way to prevent West Nile Virus is to avoid mosquito bites.
