HARRIS COUNTY \u2014 The Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office has opened a homicide investigation after two adult males were found dead inside a vehicle that had been purchased at an auction and delivered to a business on Reeveston Street (North Houston \/ Near Hardy Toll Rd & Beltway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sgt. Ritchie with the HCSO Homicide Unit briefed media from the scene in the 13600 block of Reeveston, where patrol deputies were called early Wednesday morning. According to investigators, the vehicle had been delivered to the property sometime the previous day for mechanical work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When workers assigned to inspect the vehicle opened it, they discovered the bodies of two adult men inside. Deputies confirmed both individuals were deceased at the scene and were not transported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sgt. Ritchie said the investigation is in its earliest stages. The identities of the men, their approximate ages, and their races remain unknown. Their cause of death is also undetermined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe investigation process is right now in its infancy,\u201d Ritchie said. \u201cWe still have a lot to figure out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sergeant noted that based on his experience with decomposition cases, the men had likely been dead for more than 24 hours, though he does not believe they had been inside the vehicle for weeks. The Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will determine a more accurate timeframe and cause of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ritchie said establishing a timeline will depend heavily on two factors: identifying who delivered the vehicle to the business and identifying the deceased men themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen we eventually are able to identify the individuals, then we might know when the last time they were seen by family members or friends,\u201d he said. \u201cThat will help us start putting together more of a timeline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
HCSO investigators are working to contact the party responsible for transporting the vehicle from the auction to the business. No additional details about the vehicle, the auction, or potential circumstances surrounding the deaths have been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
