SOUTHEAST, TEXAS \u2014 The Jasper County Sheriff\u2019s Office is recognizing its Public Information Officer, Taylor Justice, after she received first place in the Best Digital News Story category at the Press Club of Southeast Texas\u2019 35th Annual Excellence in the Media & Newsmaker of the Year Awards Gala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice previously worked as a reporter for KFDM News before joining the Sheriff\u2019s Office. Sheriff Chuck Havard said her background in journalism has continued to support the agency\u2019s efforts to keep the public informed and maintain transparency about law\u2011enforcement activity in Jasper County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHer background in journalism continues to be a valuable asset as we work to keep the citizens of Jasper County informed, promote transparency and share the important work being done by our deputies and staff,\u201d Havard said in the written announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recognition comes at a time when public communication practices among law enforcement agencies have been a topic of discussion in the region. Some community members and media observers have raised concerns about inconsistent information sharing, limited public information staffing, and the lack of accessible communication channels at certain agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timely and open communication help residents stay informed about public safety matters and strengthens trust between agencies and the communities they serve.
