Vega is charged with Possession of Marijuana 50–2,000 lbs, a second‑degree felony under Texas law.

Because indoor grow operations often involve hazardous chemicals, electrical modifications, and ventilation systems, members of the State’s Methamphetamine Initiative Group (MIG), a Houston HIDTA initiative responded to assist. MIG personnel helped remove the marijuana plants and identify chemicals found on the property.

Investigators say additional names surfaced during the search, and more suspects may face charges as the case develops.

The Narcotics Division has initiated asset forfeiture actions targeting the land, residences, and two vehicles believed to have been used to support the grow operation. Officials say the property was integral to the cultivation and distribution process.

Sheriff Byron Lyons said the case highlights the complexity of indoor grow operations:

“Indoor grow operations are not simple marijuana cases. These operations can involve large amounts of drugs, dangerous chemicals, electrical hazards, and organized criminal activity. Our office will continue to aggressively investigate narcotics trafficking in Polk County and hold those responsible accountable.”

Chief Deputy Anthony Lowrie emphasized the teamwork behind the warrant:

“These cases require coordination, planning, and attention to safety due to the risks involved with indoor grow operations. We remain committed to disrupting drug trafficking operations and protecting the citizens of Polk County.”

The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed as evidence is reviewed.

The suspect was charged and booked into the Polk County Jail.
