NEW CANEY, TEXAS- The Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office has launched a homicide investigation after a 15\u2011year\u2011old boy was found dead late Friday night in front of a home on Stevens Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 30, 2026, after a homeowner in the 20700 block of Stevens Road called 911 upon returning home and discovering an unknown individual lying unresponsive near the residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When patrol deputies arrived, they identified the victim as a 15\u2011year\u2011old Black male who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures, but the teen died from his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators responded and are actively working to determine what led to the shooting. No suspect information has been released, and investigators have not announced whether they believe the victim was targeted or if the location was chosen at random.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
