COLDSPRING, TEXAS – A coordinated multi\u2011agency response unfolded near the Lake Livingston Dam after a man armed with a knife jumped from the Trinity River bridge as deputies attempted to make contact with him, according to a press release from the San Jacinto County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputies from both San Jacinto County and Polk County were dispatched to the bridge after receiving reports of an armed male. When deputies approached, the man suddenly leapt from the bridge into the river below, shifting the situation from a law\u2011enforcement encounter to an urgent rescue effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additional support quickly arrived from Texas Game Wardens and the San Jacinto County Precinct 1 Constable\u2019s Office. Game Wardens located the man in the water, safely retrieved him, and transported him to responders staged on the Polk County side of the river. He was then detained and released to the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials emphasized that the incident highlights the importance of strong interagency cooperation during critical moments. Agencies involved noted that during emergencies, the mission of protecting the public and saving lives outweighs jurisdictional boundaries or uniforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
